The Gospel According to Satan

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:8

The Apostle Paul is writing to the church at Galatia. This church was made up mostly of Jews. The Apostle Paul was at one time in Galatia. While there he preached the gospel and many were saved. However not long after Paul moved on, this church began to drift back toward the keeping of the law and good works for the gospel. Satan is a great imitator of that which is right. The Bible tells us that Satan can transform himself into an angel of light. He has ministers, churches, and He also has a gospel. Paul said in our text that anyone who preached another gospel should be accursed. The word accursed means doomed to misery, separated from the faithful, cast out. These are pretty strong words, but that is what the Bible says. Paul speaks here of another gospel. To understand what this mean, we must look at what the gospel is. The word gospel means good news. If we look at the gospel in Galatians and Romans alone, we see that we are justified freely by His grace. We are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. By the works of the law no flesh is justified. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A sinner must repent of sin and believe the gospel. In Galatians 2:21 Paul said that if righteousness came by the law it would frustrate the grace of God and Christ's death is vain. If a person could be saved by works and living a certain way, Christ would not have had to die. The gospel according to Satan adds works to grace for salvation. The Bible says in Romans that if Abraham was justified by works, he could not glory before God. Abraham believed God and that made him righteous. The gospel according to Satan mixes works and grace. Romans 11:5-6 tells us it is one or the other, but it cannot be both. We are not to fellowship with those who preach another gospel. Most groups, when you pin them down, add something to grace. For by grace are ye saved through faith. I praise God that one day I heard the true gospel and that it set me free. I'm free, I'm free.

Amen!
